2016 Nobuhito MoriNobuhito Mori is appointed Professor at Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI) in Kyoto University, and is an honorary Professor of Swansea University.

A graduate of University Gifu University, Japan, he has been working at Kyoto University since 2008.
He is interested in air-sea interface physics, climate change, geophysical and environmental fluid mechanics, and nonlinear wave dynamics. As applications of these fundamental phenomena, the targets of my research are understanding mechanisms of extreme events and reduction of extreme ocean waves, storm surges and tsunamis disasters.
He focuses on dynamics of boulder movement and long-term assessment of boulder distribution in the Northwestern Pacific region. He has led field expeditions for typhoon and tsunami boulders in Okinawa, Taiwan and Philippines. He has been a technical advisor of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan since 2020.
